Director Shankar's long-time dream became a reality when his ambitious project 2.0 went on to make waves in the Indian and international marked on November 29. India's costliest film, produced by Lyca Productions starred Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles.

The film went on to mesmerise everyone, thanks to the much-needed message and brilliant VFX and computer graphics. Last year, it was reported that 2.0 will have a grand release in China. The makers have teamed up with HY Media to release the film in 56,000 screens including 47,000 3D screens.

Going by AR Rahman and Akshay Kumar's posts on their social media handles, 2.0 is all set to release in China on July 12 in a grand fashion. The composer further added that the film will have premiere shows on June 28.

2.0 was welcomed with open arms in India and in foreign countries. The film's story was impressive and the rich production value was evident in each and every scene.

The film was produced on an extravagant budget of Rs 543 crore. Speaking about the budget of the film, Shankar, in an earlier interview, said, "Lyca Productions, the production house, knows the exact amount. I narrated the entire story before we went on floors and they sort of knew how much money would be required to complete the film. They agreed to fund the project, knowing how much it would cost them. Beyond our calculations, we had some unexpected expenses for the VFX. As far as I know, the budget stands between Rs 400 to Rs 450 crore for the film alone. In addition, the producers have spent a huge chunk for the publicity and other production costs."
