Months after opting out of politics citing health worries, superstar Rajinikanth today stressed that he did not plan to change his mind and dissolved his outfit Rajini Makkal Mandram, effectively closing that chapter.

Superstar Rajinikanth tried one last time to pull a fast one on his fans and supporters, by convening a meeting of Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) on Monday, months after saying no to electoral politics. 

The meeting was ostensibly to check the ground reality for him to test the political waters. At least, that's what it was made out to be in the morning. 

After an hour's interaction with RMM office bearers at his Raghavendra marriage hall in the city and the customary waving of hands from the hall's balcony, Rajinikanth put an end to his political aspirations finally, one last time. 

With no possibility of him entering politics in the future too, Rajinikanth announced dissolving of RMM. His fans will continue to provide welfare aid to the needy through his original Rajinikanth Fans Welfare Clubs. 

"After I announced my inability to enter electoral politics, questions on the fate of RMM and its stand persisted among RMM members and people. It was my duty to respond to those questions," Rajinikanth said in a statement. The actor had returned to the city from the US last week, after a health check-up.

With an aim to launch a political party, the Rajinikanth Fans Welfare Clubs were converted as RMM. State and district level office bearers were appointed. Affiliated wings were formed. "That was not possible due to the circumstances. I do not have thoughts of entering politics in future either," Rajinikanth said. 

Hence, RMM is being dissolved. Office bearers and executive members of the mandrams, without the affiliated wings, can continue to serve the people under Rajinikanth Fans Welfare Clubs, he said. 

Rajinikanth's next film 'Annaatthe' is slated to hit theatres this Diwali, November 4, 2021. He stopped short of telling this to his fans.
