Close on the heels of Dasavathaaram being insured for Rs 43 crore, P Vasu's Kuselan and Kuseladu have been insured at a whopping Rs 70 crore (Rs 40 crore for Kuselan and Rs 30 crore for Kuseladu). Kuselan, the Tamil version, features Rajinikanth in an extended cameo.
Vikram's Anniyan, produced by Oscar Ravichandran, was the first Tamil movie to be insured by the industry. It was insured for Rs 27 crore.
Speaking to this website's newspaper, Vijaykumar of Seven Arts, the co producers of the film, said: "Kuselan has been insured for Rs 40 crore and Kuseladu, the Telugu version, for Rs 30 crore. We have insured the movie with two insurance companies for a period of six months, starting March."
Directed by P Vasu, Kuselan is the remake of the Malayalam hit Kadha Parayumbol.
Pasupathy plays the lead and Nayantara and Meena are the heroines in the movie, which was shot extensively in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Superstar Rajinikanth, who had earlier finished the shooting portion, had completed dubbing for the movie on Friday. Though media reports state that he has left for Vietnam for the reference shoot of Sultan the Warrior, the Superstar is in Chennai and will be leaving for Rishikesh soon.
Said to be a middle-budget remake, Rajini's presence has led to a lot of buzz and Kuselan is already one of the most anticipated movies this year.
It is because of Rajini's star value that Kuselan has been insured at such a high price. Else, it would have been insured for Rs 20 crore, added Vijaykumar.
