Sivaji - International FDFS Theater Reports

Rochester, New York, USA

We saw Sivaji yesterday morning at 10:45, we estimated that there were about 200 people in the theater. Rochester is a small city.

All I can say is Sivaji was FANTASTIC! It took me about an hour to calm down after the experience. I thought I was going to go home and listen to the CD but I couldn't focus on anything. My husband is a jazz writer and has been working on reivews, he said, in the car on
the way home "I'm not going to be able to write after this!" Rajini is truly larger than life and the best way to see him is on the big screen.

It is true, he looks so amazing in this movie, he looks 35. Last night we decided to watch a Hits of Rajinikant DVD and kept saying, "He looked the same!"

This movie was completely entertaining from the opening scene to the spectacular finish. I especially liked the opening song, which is so beautiful. Shankar does have a knack for filming songs, he has a real eye for color and composition and spectacle. I was really happy that I found the translated lyrics last week since it made me appreciate the heart and spirit of the song so much more - Vairamuthu!!!!!

I still keep thinking about how amazing Rajini looked in this is movie. He is a real fashino icon, he can carry off almost anything. I have so many favorite scenes and favorite moments. It was just spectacular and I am so happy that we got to see it in a theater.

WOW!!!!!

p.s.
Will someone please provide a better translation of the last line from Balleilaka:

"Pangaali..Pakkathu Veetukkum serthu samaikkira anbu ingu vaalum"

I was talking to a Tamil friend at the interval and he said this was the best line in the song, very subtle meaning and very beautiful. He said that Pangaali is a specific relative or something and the point of the line is that even if this person comes to your home, you will cook for him. The translation I found is:

"Friend, the love of cooking for the neighbor's house will live here!"

romba nandri!
