When he was asked about the same, the answer came with a gentle smile. “The reason could be people like Vikatanâ€ÂÂ… That’s what he said once.
How much ever people try to praise or abuse him, Madan has the unique nature of responding with a gentle non committal gesture. The way he replies for questions in the “Hai-Madanâ€Â section, has lot of respect among viewers. As far as Tamil literature is concerned Madan could be compared to a person as great as Sujata, for his ability to present issues with a lot of wit and credibility. The reason for this is the effort that effort that he puts into researching every answer and his unique style of presentation…
He was once asked to compare Ilayaraja and A.R.Rehman. The caustic reply that he gave for this question nearly put an end to such kind of stupid comparisons.
Madan’s reply for the same: To compare Ilayaraja and A.R.Rehman is stupid. Ilayaraja is great not only in cinematic music but has touched peaks in classical music also. A.R.Rehman is involved in attempts to take Tamil music to frontiers unheard of. Does it solve any purpose to compare these poles and do we need such comparisons in future?
He has also remained consistent in replying to such similar questions and has never minced words.
It was 2004 the period after Baba when Rajini did not announce his next project. The general election results were also not what Rajini had wished. The group which Rajini apposed had a thumping victory to their name. It was a so called slump period for Rajini.

Q: Who is the next Super Star after Rajini?
A: Super Star is unique style. We never called MGR or Shivaji as Super Star. We gave this honor and privilege only to Rajini. Even in future if someone is able to achieve heights as great as Rajini or even surpass him (Unlikely) we would never honor that person with the Super Star title. No doubt about it.
