Rajinikanth celebrates 50 days of Annaatthe with the movie crew
(Thursday, 23rd December 2021)

Superstar Rajinikanth on December 23 invited the technicians and gifted them with gold chains on the occasion of ‘Annaatthe’ movie completing 50 days in its theatrical run. Earlier in the day, the actor had also posted two voice notes on twitter where he explained in detail about the difficulties and challenges faced by the cast and crew of the movie.

The photos from the meet-up were posted on social media by the technicians. Music director D Imman who composed the music for the movie, took to twitter to thank the ‘superstar’ for his kind gesture. His tweet read, “Such a sweet gesture from Our Superstar @rajinikanth Ayya! To honour the chief technicians of Annaatthe with a Gold chain! His special mention about every craftsmanship was so obliging! Thanks to Siva Sir and @sunpictures Kalanithi Maran Sir! A Memorable Day! Praise God!"

Rajinikanth took to Twitter on December 23, to express his excitement about the movie completing 50 days of its theatrical release.

Rajinikanth shared a voice note in two parts through his official Twitter account speaking in detail about the experience, learning, and hurdles he faced during the filming of ‘Annaatthe’.

Rajinikanth in his voice note said, “We began shooting for ‘Annaatthe’ in December 2019 but soon after we took a short break for about 35 days. Initially, we planned to resume the shoot around March 2020, but because of the outbreak of coronavirus, the shooting was halted for almost nine months, then again, we started the shooting in December 2020 in Hyderabad. We followed all the protocols and safety guidelines and the entire cast and crew were given instructions to wear masks at all points of time and even we artists were wearing masks when we were not shooting a scene .”

Rajinikanth stated that actress Keerthy Suresh’s assistant tested positive for COVID but no one knew about it. He said that it was at that time that he was shooting with Keerthy and then when the director got the information, he immediately stopped the shooting to get everyone else tested.

Rajinikanth spoke about the climax sequence which was shot for around 18 days as it required more than 800 people to work. He said, “The climax scene has me standing solo on a rooftop and instructing my co-artists. The idea for the scene was formed by Siva two years ago; even before the pandemic situation. I believe this is God's will. And then, the second wave began getting out of control. It was on the eve of lockdown in Telangana when our team had wrapped up the shooting.”

The actor also spoke about the trouble the team faced after its release. He said that the reviews were not favourable and it was immediately after the release of the movie that the city had heavy rains and people were not able to watch the film in theatres. He said, “the film did perform well at the box office and it would have done better had it not been for the rains. It is when I think of such things that dialogue from the movie ‘Baasha’ comes to my mind - God will test good people a lot, but won't let them down. As for bad people...”. Rajinikanth finished the voice note with his trademark laugh.
