Darbar Promotion with Spice Jet & Air Tel

Thalaiva Rajnikanth‘s upcoming blockbuster film, Darbar, is about to hit the theatres on 9 Jan’20. Rajnikanth, the superstar he is, needs no amount of marketing or promotion for his movies, his name alone does the magic.

His fans love him immensely and are happy to see as much of the superstar on the silver screen as much as they can.

But for the upcoming movie, team Darbar has tried every rule rule by the book and for that matter even thought out of the box to make sure that the movie gets its grand welcome.

There was one promotion technique that has got all the social media to chatter about.

The movie promotion began when SpiceJet airlines unveiled ‘Darbar Rajini’ livery on its flights. The outside branding on the aircraft bearing an image of Rajinikanth in police uniform from the movie Darbar was displayed. The pictures of the flight were shared by Anirudh, the film’s music director and Rajinikanth’s nephew, on his Instagram page.

Many people twitted the picture of the aircraft while boarding it.

This is not the first time Thalaiva‘s team has chosen this mode of promotion. In 2016, the makers of Kaala also did the similar thing and had the movie posters all over the aircraft for the world to see.

Darbar, the film is directed by AR Murugadoss and stars Nayanthara as the female lead. Darbar will hit the big screens on January 9 and will also see Nivetha Thomas, Yogi Babu and Suniel Shetty in key roles.


Ties up with Airtel for Darbar-branded SIM cards

Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie Darbar will be releasing in more than 7,000 screens worldwide, including 4,000 plus screens in India, according to a senior official of Lyca Productions, which has bankrolled the movie.

“Darbar will be releasing in around 7,000 screens worldwide. We have added so many new release centres including some islands. This is going to be a blockbuster,” P Kannan, COO, Lyca Productions, said here on Monday.

He was speaking at an event organised by Airtel to announce the telecom company’s exclusive partnership with the movie.

“The movie is releasing in unprecedented number of screens in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and other States and this association with Airtel will give a wider reach to both the brands,” Kannan added.

In addition to Airtel, the production house has tied up with online ticket booking app Bookmyshow and confectionery major Cadbury’s.

“We are delighted to be associated with Darbar. We had received an overwhelming response from customers during our past tie-ups with (Rajini starrers) Kabali and Kaala,” said Manoj Murali, CEO, Bharti Airtel, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The event also saw the launch of a limited edition of Darbar-branded SIM cards, which will be available at Airtel retail stores.

Airtel customers can participate in a highly interactive 'Darbar quiz' on Airtel Xstream app and stand a chance to win exciting prizes including Darbar movie tickets and an opportunity to meet the movie cast and crew.

The AR Murugadoss-directed movie will hit the screens on January 9.
