Nattukku Oru Nallavan Movie Review

Released on 2 October 1991, Nattukku Oru Nallavan is one of the most ambitious and unusual films in Rajinikanth’s career. Starring Rajinikanth, Juhi Chawla, V. Ravichandran, Anant Nag and Khushbu, the film attempted something far ahead of its time — a truly multilingual Indian commercial film.

The film was produced by Sri Eswari Productions, N. Veerasamy, the veteran producer behind Rajinikanth’s Padikkadavan. His son, V. Ravichandran, took on an extraordinary number of responsibilities, serving as director, producer, story and screenplay writer, besides handling stunts and dance choreography. It was clearly a passion project built on enormous ambition.

The story revolves around an orphanage that hides a sinister organ-trafficking operation. When Jyothi discovers the truth, she is murdered. Her fiancé, Subhash, played by Rajinikanth, takes up the fight to expose the criminals and bring them to justice.

The film had all the ingredients of a big commercial entertainer — action, romance, emotion, elaborate sets and songs. Hamsalekha's music added another attraction, with memorable songs featuring voices such as S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, S. Janaki and Chitra, while lyrics came from Vairamuthu and Muthulingam.

Visually too, the film aimed big. The elaborate art direction by V. K. Ramesh, large-scale action sequences and choreography reflected Ravichandran's determination to create something much bigger than a conventional regional film.

But despite the scale, star power and ambition, Nattukku Oru Nallavan failed at the box office. The film's ambitious production also became a major financial setback.

Yet its failure should not completely overshadow what it attempted.

Made simultaneously across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, it was effectively a Pan-Indian experiment decades before the term became fashionable. Rajinikanth led the Tamil and Hindi versions, while Ravichandran and Nagarjuna headlined the Kannada and Telugu versions respectively.

Perhaps Nattukku Oru Nallavan is best remembered today not as a successful Rajinikanth film, but as a bold experiment that arrived before its time.

A box-office flop, yes — but an undeniably fascinating chapter in Superstar Rajinikanth's filmography.

A flawed but ambitious film that deserves to be remembered for the scale of its vision.

நாட்டுக்கு ஒரு நல்லவன் 1991 ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளிவந்த தமிழ் மொழி அதிரடி திரைப்படம். இது வி. ரவிச்சந்திரன் எழுதி இயக்கியது. கே.சி. போகாடியா என்பவரால் இந்தி பதிப்பு வெளியானது. இப்படம் ஒரே நேரத்தில் கன்னடம் மற்றும் தெலுங்கில் சாந்தி கிரந்தி என்ற தலைப்பில் 1991 இல் வெளியிடப்பட்டது. சாந்தி கிரந்தி தெலுங்கு பதிப்பில் அக்கினேனி நாகார்ஜுனா முன்னணி கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்தார். சாந்தி கிரந்தி கன்னட பதிப்பில் வி. ரவிச்சந்திரன் முன்னிலை வகித்தார். ரஜினிகாந்த் தமிழ் பதிப்பில் முன்னணி கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்தார். இப்படம் இந்தி மொழியிலும் சாந்தி கிரந்தியாக சற்று வித்தியாசமான நடிகர்களுடன் மீண்டும் படமாக்கப்பட்டது.

இந்த படம் தெலுங்கில் போலீஸ் புல்லட் எனவும் அழைக்கப்பட்டது. தற்செயலாக, அனைத்து பதிப்புகளும் பாக்ஸ் ஆபிஸில் தோல்வியடைந்தன. ரவிச்சந்திரன் பெரும் இழப்பைச் சந்தித்தார். பிரபலமான கன்னட நடிகர் அனந்த் நாக் தமிழ் சினிமாவில் முக்கிய எதிரியாக அறிமுகமானதை இப்படம் குறித்தது. ஹம்சலேக்க படத்திற்கு இசையமைத்தார். ஜூஹி சாவ்லா, குஷ்பூ, ஜெய்சங்கர், ஜனகராஜ் மற்றும் மனோரமா ஆகியோரும் இந்த படத்தில் நடித்துள்ளனர். படம் 1991 இல் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

கதை

நாட்டுக்கு ஓரு நல்லவன் ஒரு நேர்மையான காவல்துறை அதிகாரியின் கதை ஆகும். உறுப்பு மாற்று மாஃபியாவில் ஈடுபடும் டாடி என்ற பயங்கரமான குற்றவாளிக்கு எதிரான அவரது போராட்டத்தை படம் விளக்குகிறது.

வி.ரவிச்சந்திரன் தனது வாழ்க்கையில் சாந்தி கிரந்தி ஒரு விலையுயர்ந்த திட்டமாக இருக்கும் என்று அறிவித்தார். கன்னடம், தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, இந்தி ஆகிய நான்கு மொழிகளில் இயக்க முடிவு செய்தார். தமிழ் பதிப்பின் பெயர் நாட்டுக்கு ஓரு நல்லவன். கன்னட பதிப்பில் ரவிச்சந்திரன் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்தார், தமிழ் மற்றும் தெலுங்கு பதிப்புகளில் ரமேஷ் அரவிந்த் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்தார். ரஜினிகாந்த் மற்றும் நாகார்ஜுனா ஆகியோர் தமிழ் மற்றும் தெலுங்கு பதிப்புகளில் முன்னணி நடிகர்களாக இருந்தனர்.
